UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS:
According to Prison Hunger Strike Solidarity Blog:
“Today prisoners at Pelican Bay resoundingly rejected a proposal from CDCR to end the hunger strike. Prisoners characterized the proposal as “smoke and mirrors,” and “insulting,” and vowed to continue striking. In fact, after reading the proposal, some prisoners who had previously resumed eating changed their minds and rejoined the hunger strike…. While the CDCR has claimed that there is no medical crisis, mediators report that the principal hunger strikers have lost 25-35 pounds each and have underlying medical conditions of concern. Despite the promises from the federal Receiver overseeing the CDCR, no one has received salt tablets or vitamins….Hundreds of prisoners at Pelican Bay remain on strike, with thousands more participating throughout the CA’s 33 prisons…From day one. the CDCR has demonstrated it’s inability to resolve this situation. We call on Gov. Brown to step in and negotiate in good faith to bring this situation to a just resolution.”

These are updates we have from letters, posts, facebook messages, conversations, emails.
There is a rumor that men who are incarcerated in the SHU are not receiving their Jpay. Please double check with your loved ones. It might be that they are receiving the money, just maybe not the notice? Let us know what you find out so we may post and let others know. If this rumor is true, maybe folks can flood Jpay with phone calls and demand they do something about this or that you will never use their service again.
“Julie Gilbertson (a hunger striker friend and monitor who’s been at PB since end of June) has agreed to help put three lists together. One will be for all 33 prisons. We can start tracking which ones we know for sure have striker’s, which one’s might still have them, which one’s (like HDSP) we need to check on to see if they are keeping striker’s and their condition hidden. The second list will be of family or loved one’s of strikers. We’ll be able to note which prison their loved one is in, keep an update of their condition, and have contact info for them. This will be strictly private, by invite only, so identities can be kept safe… the third list will have all the org’s/groups/community leader’s that are participating (All of Us or None, Critical Resistance, etc.), with contact info. Any thoughts or other idea’s? Or do such lists already exist???” Please get in contact with her if you are interested.”
“There is a panel at UCSB happening on Thursday, July 21st 6PM-8PM in solidarity with the hunger strike. If there is anyone who has a loved one incarcerated, can speak to the conditions in the SHU, or/and demands of the hunger strike, let me know! Perhaps a carpool can be organized to Santa Barbara? People in that area get at me! Your loved one doesn’t have to be in the SHU, you could be a family member experiencing drastic concerns for a loved one inside. Remember, carpools are always fun and a great way to connect and get to know folks :)”
“Was recently told that there are at least 4 men at Jamestown participating..”
Response: “The number at Sierra Conservation Center was actually 13 who had held strong on the fast since July 1st”
“A mother of a Tehachapi hunger striker in front Cate’s office today – she is so worried about her son that she doesn’t want to leave until negotiations have been made and settled! She’s 100% Native American, and her Tribe is coming out to stand in support with her – and will be standing in solidarity with the rest of us on Monday. I hear they will be singing and drumming…” J
