Endorse and Spread the Word: Oct 22nd National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation

Hello My Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Danny Garcia.

I am the brother of Mark Garcia who was beaten and pepper-sprayed to death by the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) in SF on April 6th, 1996.

I am only one of the many social justice fighters in this world and I am also one of the Co-founders of the Stolen Life’s Project, Stolen Lives Wall, and Oct 22nd National Day of Protest.

I am asking all of you who read this e-mail or see this message on Facebook as a family member and a social justice fighter for 30 years that you allow me and our people to come and talk with you and your community members at your convenience to speak on this year’s October 22nd demonstration against police brutality, repression, and the criminalization of our youth.

I think we can unite on this issue of police brutality and accountability that we are facing as a community and working people and end it and the attacks on our unions and our livelihoods and on all our brothers and sisters.

The list of police murders goes on and on:

Oscar Grant,

Raheim Brown murdered by Oakland school police,

Kenneth Harding,

Charles Hill,

James Rivera who was murdered by Stockton police and shot at almost 40 times,

and Martin Cotton, murdered by the Eureka police.

In Miami, the police shot and murdered a brother while raining more than a hundred bullets.

We are not disconnected from such issues as police brutality as it is part of a broad assault on the people.

October 22nd has taken up the struggle against police brutality for 16 years.

In past years many community people and union workers have worn armbands or black clothing in solidarity with protests.

Postal union and other locals have endorsed and sent people to the marches and rallies.

Can We Count On You For Your Support!

This year October 22nd will be held in the SF Bay Area:

Oct 22nd Saturday 12noon, 3rd and Palou Streets (Bayview District) San Francisco
